University Musician
Mr. Paul Halley

Born in the UK, Mr. Halley received his early musical education in Ottawa, Ontario before becoming Organ Scholar at Trinity College in Cambridge, England. He has worked in many parts of the world including Jamaica, and was for a number of years Organist and Choir Master at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine in New York. While there, he transformed the music program to reflect a rich combination of classical and contemporary music. He was also a principal member of the Paul Winter Consort. Featured on over 20 recordings by the Consort, he was awarded Grammies for four. Paul is also in demand as a composer whose works are performed by internationally renowned musicians all over the world.
For the past seven years, Paul Halley has been Director of Music at Trinity Episcopal Church, Torrington, Connecticut, where he conducted a 30-voice semi-professional choir, and worked with organ scholars from Yale University’s Institute of Sacred Music.

AST welcomed Archdeacon Burleson as the Anglican Church Formation Director in September 2011. A graduate of AST, she is a former member of AST Senate and the Accreditation Self-Study Team. She served as Rector of the Parish of Seaforth, a five-point rural parish on Nova Scotia’s Eastern Shore, and as Priest-in-Charge of St. Luke’s in Dartmouth. She continues to serve as Archdeacon for the Eastern Shore.

Since her ordination in 1992, the Rev. Shaw has served congregations in Saskatchewan, Ontario and Nova Scotia. She has taught courses at Emmanuel College and St. Stephen’s College as Adjunct Faculty. She is interested in building bridges that link theory and practice, faith and action, worship and work, the church and its context, bridges that join individuals together in community and carry us into closer relationship with God, bridges that lead us to explore the link between who we are and what we do as ordered ministers in the United Church of Canada.

The Rev. Charles Black has been involved in various ministries since his ordination in 1961. In addition to his AST activities, he currently provides chaplain services to the Canadian Forces, the Canadian Naval Memorial Trust, the Nova Scotia Naval Officers' Association, and Veterans' Affairs Canada (Pastoral Care Program). The Rev. Black is also a parish priest at Holy Trinity-Emmanuel Church in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

The Rev. Fram was ordained by the Maritime Conference on May 14, 1989, and is currently serving as Minister at Grace United Church in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. He has previous experience in the chaplaincy area with the Youth Forum Committee of the Maritime Conference and pastoral experience in various regions of the Maritimes.
